In functional organizations, the
delivery of value often occurs through processes that span across organizational
boundaries. Because each functional
unit brings its own legacy of requirements,
policies, and practices to each value delivering process, productive work is
often the result of a collection of disjointed and uncoordinated independent
efforts. The process view of work
allows an enterprise to avoid this pitfall and move toward clean and efficient
processes that meet requirements without duplication and unnecessary effort,
